On Wednesday 6th December, staff from the Vision Support Service delivered a number of workshops at the Aberdeen University Student Conference. Workshops included reading and technology in the classroom, PE, fine motor skills and social skills. The students got an opportunity to try out a selection of vision impairment simulated glasses, which give an idea of what vision pupils have.
Lots of positive feedback was received from the students:
“I really enjoyed the workshop today and found out so many new things. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the different adaptations that can be made and the wide range of resources that are available.”
“Really enjoyed using the glasses to show some of the different visual impairments – far better understanding of what a child might be going through than just being told.”
