Living with a visual impairment & how the Vision Support Service has helped me

Hello, my name is Jordon and I am 16 years old. I am currently studying the Preparation for Work course at NESCOL. This is my story about living with a visual impairment and how the Aberdeen Vision Support Service has helped me.

I was diagnosed with Nystagmus and being short sighted when I was young. Nystagmus means that my eyes constantly move about and being short sighted means that I am unable to see things at a distance.

The Vision Support Service has done so much for me and I am very thankful.  Over the years I have had many new challenges to face, however, having a Vision Support Teacher has helped me face up to these challenges.  They have boosted my confidence and have helped me with various things. Without them I don’t think I would have been able to come as far as I have.
